In 1993 when the first Jurassic Park film came out, Hollywood used the most up-to-date science to present amazing moving images of dinosaurs such as velociraptors, birds really are dinosaurs. Although, we now know that a velociraptor was smaller than those clever critters hunting Jeff Goldblum – and covered in feathers.

The reboot of the Jurrasic Park franchise was in development hell for over a decade, but in 2015, Universal was betting big on Jurassic World. A kind of soft reboot that picks up where the original left off, but 20 years later and ignoring the sequels. The weight of expectations on director Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic Park sequel/reboot was probably comparable to that of JJ Abrams’ Star Wars continuation, The Force Awakens.

Returning to the roots of the franchise, the “deadly theme park” formula of the first film, the movie takes us to Jurassic World, a tourist wonderland with 20,000 visitors a day that actively tries to avoid referencing what happened there 20 years before.

Jurassic World was a huge hit, so it is no surprise to hear that Jurassic World 2 will receive a bigger budget. The sequel’s proposed $260 million budget surpasses the 2015 summer smash hit by $110 million.

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and B. D. Wong will reprise their roles from the preceding movie Jurassic World and are joined by newcomers Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Ted Levine, Geraldine Chaplin, and James Cromwell; additionally, Jeff Goldblum will reprise his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm from the original film and its 1997 sequel. Universal Pictures has scheduled the film for release in the United States on June 22, 2018. J. A. Bayona replaces Colin Trevorrow as director, with Steven Spielberg as executive producer.

There is something captivating about seeing something go from concept to creation, concept artist Ian Joyner worked on Jurassic World and recently posted his design for the Indominus Rex. on his ArtStation page, revealing a drastically different depiction.

Concept artist Bodin Sterba also on the dinosaur designs for the film, he recently posted a few renditions of a Stegoceratops to his own website.

Artist Seth Engstrom worked on the Indominus Rex together with Ian Joyner, the beast was initially called the Diabolus Rex, and before that, the Malusaurus. Engstrom also worked on the park and overall design, the below art shows us an alternate park and control room design.

Also, Industrial Light and Magic and Aaron McBride shared some pretty neat concept art for Jurassic World via their website.
